Attitude
“To endure what IS, we must remember what WAS, and dream of things as they will one day BE“. Will and Ariel Durant
The right attitude is one of the fundamentals of the good life, and our attitude is a major determining factor in how our lives turn out. You cannot change your past, so let go of regret, remose, and bitterness. A brighter future comes from closing the door on the “darkness of the past”. Futhermore, if your current rewards seem small, it is because your past efforts were also small. In short, time favours no one — time is always asking us “What are you going to do with me today?”
We have heard the following in many forms, but we must truly understand it and learn it: whatever the mind has the capacity to imagine, it also has the ability to create. What can be has the power to drive us to do all that we can do. And this boils down to having a healthy attitude about your past (and not focusing on regrets or limitations).
Social Media Savvy
With the explosion of social media and Web 2.0 sites and their popularity, many marketers and networkers have jumped on the bandwagon and are actively promoting their opportunities and products there. However, this blog post is to serve a polite but firm reminder to those to remember the principles behind attraction marketing and the etiquette required to make social media “work”. Sadly, we have become an entitlement and instant gratification society, and as a result perhaps many “marketers” feel obliged to immediately vomit their opportunity links, hard sell video embeds, webinar invites, or even blatant sales pitches on other people’s Facebook, Twitter, or My Space profiles. Whatever happened to the SOCIAL aspect of social media?! In other words, instead take 30 seconds to read my profile, read my recent posts, or check out my own links, and then ask me APPROPRIATE and INFORMED questions about my life and/or business. That way, you are more likely to get a polite response from me instead of an immediate delete keystroke of your spam of MY page! Then perhaps later and if it seems fitting, you can send me information on your program or training. Stop drooling over the prospect of “an avalanche of traffic” simply by posting your links on my pages when you see that I have 4000+ Facebook friends or 12,000+ Twitter followers (or better yet, do the work involved to create your own following)! In the end, just be real and genuine, and that way you will most likely get my attention and assistance.
Get Back In The Game
It is a sad reality, but the plain truth: many people are unhappy with their lives. They are dissatisfied with their careers as well as their past accomplishments. If you find yourself in this situation, it is easy to lose the right mindset necessary to grow and prosper. Particularly if you operate a business, or if you are thinking about operating one, not having the proper mindset in place can be a fatal flaw from the start. If you find yourself not in the game, if you are not focused on the tasks at hand, and if you cannot concentrate on the art and science of making money, then you need to find a way out of that rut. In particular, be mindful of who you surround yourself with as others can either bring you down, or alternatively your circle of influence can build you up. In other words, your net worth is equal to your network! Finally, learn to focus on what is good, what is already right in your life — be grateful and feel deserving for what you already have.
Be in the Now
Whatever your business opportunity, throw away your cookie-cutter phone script and just be yourself! Prospects are starving for people to speak to them as a “real” person. Be yourself, learn to be more in the moment, and truly LISTEN to them on the other end. You will be amazed at how much better you connect with people as a result.
Follow The Leader
Internet marketing leaders are generally very open to sharing their ideas. Of course, you’ll probably have to pay a nominal fee to find out how the online superstars have made their fortunes. But the bottom line is that the investment is well worth the cost. Unless you are already heavily experienced in online marketing, the time it would take to figure out the techniques and processes while mastering the skills yourself would be essentially cost prohibitive.
Success experts have long counseled that modeling success is one of the best ways to achieve it. This is particularly true when doing business online. You can dramatically shorten the learning curve by making it your mission to study and master what the super successful have already been able to achieve. The key is to find a mentor—even if it’s someone you never meet face to face—that has accomplished what you wish to accomplish while sharing your beliefs and core values.
